Luis Echeverria
Staff Attorney, South Texas Civil Rights Project
Luis Alonzo Echeverria is a Civil Rights attorney for the South Texas Office of the Texas Civil Rights Project. Primary areas of practice include disability rights, police misconduct and excessive use of force, and Constitutional law, particularly equal protection and due process violations. Luis also handles cases involving property, including landlord-tenant and title disputes, wills, and public policy. Previous legal work included criminal defense and family law. While enrolled at St. Mary’s University School of Law, Luis served as a summer intern for the Immigration and Human Rights Clinic.
As an undergraduate, Luis attended The University of Texas Pan American, where he pursued his passion of Constitutional Law and political theory. Areas of study included philosophy, that most personal sojourn of all studies, history, political science, and economics. Prior to attending law school, Luis taught United States Government and Economics at area high schools, where he was privileged to do one of things he enjoys as much as the practice of law: Foster discourse about the United States Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the rights and liberties of all persons living in the United States.
